We are delighted to announce that Laurence Geller CBE, Chairman and Founder of Loveday & Co, has been appointed as the Government’s Ministerial Adviser on Concussion in Sport. Laurence will advise the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) on the prevention of head-related injuries, its long-term effects on those who play sport, the improvement of player welfare and long-term care and education.
Laurence will bring his expertise, gathered over decades of working with leaders in the dementia care and research world, to his new position. Working closely with the Secretary of State, Oliver Dowden MP, and Junior Minister for Culture, Nigel Huddleston MP. Laurence will drive forward understanding of head injuries in sport and support the Department’s roll out of its three-step plan on concussion: 1) to accelerate action by National Governing Bodies to strengthen concussion research; 2) to work with sport, education, and health authorities on their concussion protocols, and 3) to maximise the use of technological advances and drive innovation to improve safe participation in sport.
We are proud to work with a team of industry-leading experts who are passionate about dementia, raising industry standards and advocating change.
