Loveday Kensington’s Extraordinary Days

It’s been a wonderful first month at Loveday Kensington and we have enjoyed opening our doors and welcoming our first Members. We have been overwhelmed by positivity and praise from the local community, medical profession and care industry and humbled by the support we’ve received.

Although we’ve experienced all four seasons throughout March, we have fully taken advantage of every element, with an exciting line-up of activities organised by Robert, our award-winning Head of Lifestyle and Activities.

Some of the highlights have included:

Swimming -  at the Harbour Club, Kensington, a birthday wish granted! One of our Members had the most wonderful time swimming for the first time in years a couple of days after her birthday.

Musical experiences -  covering all genres. An opera singer entertained, a string quartet serenaded, a violin & piano duo gave an incredible adaptation performance for people living with dementia and a singer/pianist delivered an energising eclectic mix of songs and got ALL of our Members and carers singing and dancing!

Ukrainian art exploration -  We always stay close to global news and current affairs. We explored and expressed ourselves through an innovative Loveday Arts Club session which was full of emotion.

St Patrick's Day celebrations -  we baked delicious Guinness and Chocolate Brownies. And for those who don't enjoy baking, we made sensational Black Velvet cocktails, channelling our inner mixologist with Guinness, champagne and Bushmills Irish Malt Whiskey.

Greek Independence Day -  celebrations with a smorgasbord of mezedes including homemade houmous and tzatziki and an assortment of Greek olives, washed down with Keo Greek beer. The Greek feast was accompanied by traditional  music, Greek dancing and reminiscence as we reflected on past holidays to Greece. Unfortunately, Health and Safety guidelines meant that plate smashing was not permitted. Opa!

French film - Robert also went above and Beyond in sourcing a very rare (and slightly obscure) 1935  French black and white film “La Kermesse Héroïque/ Carnival in Flanders” to the surprise, delight and pure enjoyment of the Member who requested it!

We are so proud of our innovative Extraordinary Day activities programme which is focussed around curating meaningful experiences that bring joy to each of our Members, every day. We are very much looking forward to curating many more magical moments for our Loveday Kensington Members, we have only just begun!
