Loveday Members Cruise Down the Thames

Loveday Members enjoyed an Extraordinary Day excursion with an unforgettable cruise down the Thames, enjoying a picturesque journey along London’s iconic riverside landmarks.

The adventure set sail at Tower Pier and Members enjoyed the stories and historical insight into some of the city’s most famous landmarks including the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tate Modern, Tower of London, Shakespeare’s Globe Tower Bridge, and much more.

Members were treated to a delicious lunch onboard as the co-captain tour guide regaled stories and history of the Thames, keeping everyone engaged and entertained. From medieval times to the current day, our Members learnt about the role the ancient waterways have played and how the Thames has shaped British history. They were also intrigued by learning about the dark history of the Thames, including the Execution Dock and the Great Flood of London in 1928.

The Extraordinary Day couldn’t have asked for better weather. Despite forecasts predicting rain, we were blessed with clear skies, sunshine and calm waters – the perfect ingredients for a perfect day on the river.

Members were in awe of the city’s rich history and architectural wonders; a wonderful day was had by all.
