March was a marvellous month at Loveday as we enjoyed lots of exciting experiences celebrating literary creativity.
We proudly unveiled a new Member Library in our Residences this month, which will house the favourite books of all of our Members. This initiative aims to provide endless enjoyment, whether through personal reading, admiring illustrations or engaging in shared reading sessions and reminiscence. We're confident that these libraries will bring immense joy, not only to our Members but also to visitors and our dedicated team members. We are excited about building this collection and watching this collection grow. Read more about reading with dementia here.
In the spirit of books and cherished literary genres, our Members enjoyed a trip to the West End this month to see a novel come to life. Agatha Christie’s timeless masterpiece “The Mousetrap”, which is the longest-running play in the world, entertained us all and enraptured our collective imagination. We were transported to a snow-laden guesthouse where seven strangers were entangled in a web of deceit and suspicion, with a murderer lurking amidst them. We were kept on the edge of our seats with every twist and turn, in true Christie style. A wonderful time was had by all.
Numerous delightful festivities took place during the month, such as a Women's Day celebration featuring a musical luncheon where we honoured all of the incredible women who have helped shape our lives and history. Mothering Sunday involved posy-tying for all, while St Patrick's Day was a lively event with laughter, music and Irish dancers. Easter brought joy to all, featuring live bunny visits, a chocolatier masterclass where Members crafted their own chocolates and a spectacular egg hunt in Loveday Abbey Road's garden.
We are delighted to welcome Spring and are looking forward to the longer and brighter days ahead, with more exciting events and experiences.
