This accolade recognises his relentless dedication to enhancing and revolutionising dementia care standards. As a renowned international hotelier, Laurence's journey into dementia care advocacy was influenced by witnessing his parents' struggles with the disease. This personal connection has fueled his relentless mission to improve the lives of those affected by dementia.

Since Loveday’s inception in 2016, it is recognised as the best-in-class, later living dementia care provider. Laurence developed this new model of high-end dementia care homes from scratch, a blueprint which has inspired the industry.
He chairs the Geller Commission, an independent review into clinical pathways for individuals living with dementia in the UK. This significant initiative brings together leading organisations such as the Alzheimer's Society, Dementia UK, the World Dementia Council and the UK Dementia Research Institute to collaborate on improving dementia care.
In his academic role, Laurence serves as the Chancellor of the University of West London. Here, he founded the Geller Institute of Ageing and Memory and established the first Masters in Dementia Studies, demonstrating his commitment to advancing education in dementia care. Additionally, he funds annual nursing scholarships, ensuring that future generations of healthcare professionals are equipped to provide exceptional care to those living with dementia.
Laurence's philanthropic efforts have been hugely impactful to the nation. He chaired the Alzheimer’s Society Major Gifts fundraising group and currently serves as an Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador, regularly making significant financial contributions. His support extends to the UK Dementia Research Institute's Minder project, where his donations facilitate cutting-edge research led by Imperial College.
Beyond his direct involvement in dementia care, Laurence acts as an Independent Ministerial Adviser to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, focusing on concussion in sport. He collaborates with sports and medical experts to position the UK as a leader in concussion research. Laurence also sponsors the annual Care Sector Ball, which raises awareness and funds for dementia carers.
A regular speaker and supporter at the World Dementia Council, Laurence facilitates international collaboration among governments and research bodies to tackle global dementia challenges. His comprehensive and multifaceted approach to dementia care highlights his outstanding contributions to the field, making him a deserving candidate for this prestigious award.
