We had a fabulous February celebrating fashion at Loveday with trips, illustration workshops, paparazzi experiences, catwalks, fashion talks and much more!
Our Extraordinary Day outing to the DIVA Exhibition at the V&A Museum was a huge success. Members adored seeing costumes and dazzling outfits worn by legendary performers including Cher, Tina Turner, Marilyn Monroe, Elton John, Elizabeth Taylor, Billie Holiday and many more.
The exhibition celebrated the power and creativity of these performers and redefined the concept of a 'diva', examining how it has evolved in opera, screen, stage and music.
Following the exhibition, we headed to a local Italian restaurant to enjoy fine food, reminisce about our favourite artists and costumes and continue our diva discussions.
We had the privilege of taking our Members to the first UK exhibition of the sold-out Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto at the V&A Museum.
Members adored exploring the collection of iconic clothes, bags, jewellery and fragrances and learning about the life of Gabrielle Chanel. From exquisite clothing including little black dresses, sequin dresses, signature tweed and trousers to coveted accessories and the story of perfume, the essence of Chanel’s unparalleled vision was palpable in every detail. Our Members loved learning how Chanel continues to influence the way women dress today.
Members made like models and enjoyed the full catwalk-ready makeover backstage at Loveday, complete with hair, makeup, nails and fashion styling for our Fashionista Afternoon Tea. Hosted by our Author in Residence Nadia Cohen, Members walked the catwalk where Loveday paparazzi captured their moment on the red carpet before enjoying delicious tea, champagne and patisseries whilst listening to a talk on how Vogue got Kate Middleton onto the cover in secret. A fabulous time was had by all.
Our artist Members enjoyed a fashion illustration workshop, with Grace Holiday, Loveday’s Artist in Residence. Artistic expression met style as Members drew inspiration from the DIVA and Chanel exhibitions to create fashion masterpieces with mixed media.
Fashion Friday was the cinema theme throughout the month, where our dedicated followers of fashion enjoyed documentaries on fashion icons including Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Cristobal Balenciaga and Vivienne Westwood.
