Loveday Kensington was thrilled to welcome iconic British fashion designer Julien Macdonald as a guest speaker at the Loveday Fashionista Afternoon Tea.
Julien delighted the Members, many of whom are living with dementia, as he regaled stories about his illustrious career in fashion, his experience dressing some of the world’s most famous people (including Jennifer Lopez, Shirley Bassey and Beyonce) and giving an insight into the elaborate craftsmanship involved in making each dress.
Camilla Morton, a renowned fashion journalist and best-selling author interviewed Julien, giving the full “chat show” experience as they talked through some of the most memorable moments in fashion. They were joined by models who paraded Julien Macdonald dresses, including one hot off the catwalk from his February London Fashion Week show.
The Loveday chefs prepared a show-stopping afternoon tea, fit for the fashion elite, which featured an assortment of sweet and savoury delicacies which were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Loveday Fashionista Afternoon Tea was specially curated for those who share a love of fashion and beauty, several of whom enjoyed successful careers in this industry. Members were also treated to the full fashion pamper experience before the event, enjoying having their hair, nails and makeup done in advance. They were delighted to meet Julien after the talk, where he took time to meet, greet and pose for photos.
Julien Macdonald comments, “Dementia is something that is very close to my heart and I am proud to be supporting people who are living with the disease. It was an absolute honour to share my love of fashion with the Loveday Members and see the absolute joy that this talk brought to them.”
