Celebrating an Operatic Year at Loveday

We love celebrating music at Loveday, and include all genres within our curriculum, tailoring to the tastes of each Member. Many of our Members are opera aficionados so we have ensured that the beautiful operatic sounds and experiences have flowed constantly throughout Loveday.

Sponsoring Opera Holland Park's 2023 Season

Loveday was thrilled to sponsor Opera Holland Park's highly-anticipated 2023 season, marking a momentous collaboration between Loveday and one of the world's most renowned opera companies. The announcement evoked great enthusiasm amongst our Members, some of whom have been dedicated patrons of Opera Holland Park for many years.

Just a stone's throw from Loveday Kensington nestled within the stunning grounds of Holland Park, a splendid marquee was constructed to house this summer's opera festival. Over 30,000 people attended the 60 Opera Holland Park performances throughout the summer season.

The talented cast performed operas including Rigoletto, Hansel and Gretel, La Bohème and Ruddigor. The world premiere of the new production “Itch” was also debuted to critical acclaim, it was Opera Holland Park’s first main stage commission and a resounding success. Our Members were honoured to be invited to watch this sensational performance.

For the 19th consecutive year, the City of London Sinfonia orchestra masterfully complemented the operatic performances, enriching them with their exceptional musical prowess and contributing to the overall artistic excellence of the productions.

The dementia-friendly opera performances were inclusive and thoroughly enjoyed, along with opening night invitations, exclusive backstage tours and meetings with the talented cast which made for very meaningful experiences.

Opera Afternoon Teas

Throughout the year Opera Holland Park's artists have become familiar faces at Loveday Residences, captivating audiences during our monthly Opera Afternoon Teas. Members have enjoyed delicacies of cakes, scones, sandwiches, tea and champagne whilst being serenaded by the talented singers and pianists, performing songs from our favourite operas, old and new. Many of our Members sing along to the songs, in both English and Italian.

A Night at the Opera

To celebrate World Opera Day, we were delighted to host 'A Night at the Opera' in partnership with Opera Holland Park. This opulent Extraordinary Day at Loveday Kensington was filled with beautiful music, delectable food and heart-warming moments.

We rolled out the red carpet to welcome friends and families and our Members from Kensington and Abbey Road, who enjoyed a champagne reception whilst being serenaded by Italian tenor, Yuri Sabatini. Our award-winning chefs then served a delicious three-course meal as Opera Holland Park performers took the stage, treating us to an exquisite repertoire of music from the past and present. It was a truly magical atmosphere and a night to remember.
