Literary March
We had volumes of fun celebrating book month in March, exploring our favourite stories and authors, and sharing readings of our favourite classics. We celebrated World Book Day, visited our local book stores and went hunting for vintage first editions to continue building our library at Loveday Kensington. Even our entertainment had a book theme! Miss Holiday Swing took us back to the era of Miss Marple and the glamour of Hercule Poirot, singing songs inspired by classic vintage novels!
Our Extraordinary Day trip took us on a novel adventure – we boarded a coach and had a guided tour of literary locations around London by our Loveday Tour Guide.
We enjoyed a delectable afternoon tea in the stunning Mirror Room at the Rosewood Hotel before finishing the day with a private tour of the British Library. Founded in 1753, the British Library is home to over 13 million printed books and 170 million items! Members relished the opportunity of examining rare manuscripts and first editions of beloved classics. It truly was an extraordinary day for all of our book-loving Members!
Book Month was completed by a workshop with our very own Resident Author Nadia Cohen as she gave us an overview of her biographies of literary legends; Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton, AA Milnes and Beatrix Potter.
